Forecast: Chilly and clear tonight

Clear skies will give way to brisk temperatures by Saturday morning.

Overnight, most spots will drop to either side of 50 degrees under mainly clear skies. Saturday will be a repeat performance of today before changes arrive into Sunday. Saturday night, a very potent storm system will develop across the Deep South with an attendant cold front swinging across the Gulf of Mexico. This front is expected to arrive sometime during the day Sunday, bringing with it the chance for a few gusty showers and thunderstorms. Depending on the exact track of this storm, there is a low-end chance of some strong to severe storms on Sunday. The main threat will be damaging winds and a brief, weak tornado.

Behind this front, the coolest air of the season will filter in, as high temperatures struggle to hit 70 for Monday and Tuesday. Highs eventually moderate back into the mid and upper 70s by the end of the week as low humidity and sunshine remain in place. Overnight lows next week will drop to the 40s for Tuesday and Wednesday morning before climbing back into the 50s for the end of the week.
